Our Process

Apply for a Grant

MF3 is committed to empowering organizations that are making a meaningful impact in our communities. We support nonprofits and initiatives that align with our core values of education, religion, medicine, visual and performing arts and community.

If your organization shares our mission of building stronger, more resilient communities, we invite you to apply for a grant.

What We Fund

We consider grant proposals from organizations that:

  • Are recognized as 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations
  • Serve individuals and communities in need, particularly in the Greater Houston area
  • Align with one or more of our focus areas:
    • Education
    • Medicine
    • Visual and Performing Arts
    • Community

Grant applications are accepted through out the year, and the Board of trustees meets 3 times annually to review submissions.

Application Process

To streamline our review process, please note the following requirements for funding requests:

  • Requests up to $50,000:
No presentation is required. Please submit your proposal and supporting materials for review.
  • Requests between $50,001 and $100,000:
An in-person presentation is required. Once your application is submitted, our team will contact you to schedule a presentation date with the Board of Trustees.
  • Requests over $101,000:
Please contact the Foundation to discuss further.

The Marvy Finger Family Foundation Grant Application must now be completed online using the following link: Grant Application

All applicants must clearly identify a specific need or project for which the grant will be used.

General or vague requests (e.g., for “operations,” “program expansion,” or “general support”) will not be considered.

Applications that do not specify a defined purpose, measurable outcome, or itemized use of funds may not be considered for funding. Please provide as much detail as possible regarding how the requested funds will address the identified need.

The following will be required attachments when completing the online application:

  • Copy of your most recent 501(c)(3) letter from the IRS
  • Current fiscal year budget
  • A detailed budget for the project for which funding is being requested
  • Most recent year-to-date Balance Sheet and Income Statement
  • Most recent 990 with Schedule A and attachments
  • Most recent financial audit, including auditor’s management letter
  • A list of Foundation and Corporate supporters and amounts given during the prior fiscal year
  • A list of Board of Directors at your organization
